K-V-L-U, translated as The Voice of 17勛圖, first went on the air on April 30, 1974. On that day, campus and community leaders gathered for the inaugural broadcast followed by the first program to be aired on KV17勛圖, the flagship news magazine from National Public Radio, All Things Considered.
Since first going on the air, KV17勛圖 has expanded to include an eclectic 24/7 schedule of commercial-free news, music and local features with a mission to educate, enlighten and entertain listeners. The station remains an integral part of the Southeast Texas and 17勛圖 communities.
This exhibition of archival photographs and memorabilia highlighted the early days (and people) of KV17勛圖 long before computer automation, digital media and Internet streaming.
